High Power Tabletop Laser System [Model 1101-XX-CW-XXXX]

The Model 1101-46-CW-XXXX laser is sold as a complete system consisting of the laser head and matched power supply, ready to be turned on at the customer's location. The thermoelectric cooler and collimating optics for the quantum cascade laser are located in a hermetically sealed package for trouble free operation in real environments.


The system is offered in four power output versions:




OEM High Power Laser [Model 1101-XX-CW-YYYY-BF]


Model 1101-XX-CW-YYYY-BF is OEM version of Pranalytica's high power, continuous wave, room temperature midwave infrared laser system. It provides up to 3500 of continuous wave, room temperature (CW/RT) optical power at the wavelength of 4.6 µm or up to 2500 of CW/RT power at 4.0 µm. The butterfly package includes the high power quantum cascade laser mounted on a thermoelectric cooler, a thermistor to sense the QCL temperature and appropriate optics for collimating the output from the QCL.


The quantum cascade laser incorporates Pranalytica's unique patent-pending structure designs, which permit continuous wave high power operation of the laser at room temperature without the need for external chillers or water cooling. The quantum cascade laser also incorporates Pranalytica's proprietary high reflectivity facet coating technology for high reliability operation of the laser at high CW power levels.


The OEM butterfly module requires appropriate thermal management system to maintain the butterfly package body at temperatures below 35°C. Electrical power specifications are provided with each module and the customer needs to supply current regulated power for driving the QCL as well as the TEC. The TEC current needs to be feedback controlled using the thermistor data to maintain QCL at a constant operating temperature. The thermistor data should also be used to provide a QCL power shutoff should the QCL device temperature rise above 45°C.


When the high power QCLs are supplied in the OEM package and are operated with electronics drivers other than those provided by Pranalytica, there is no implicit or explicit warranty on the performance or lifetime of the QCL.


The OEM version of the high power QCL is offered in several power output versions:




High Power Quasi-CW Micro Laser [Model 1101-XX-QCW-YYYY-MicroTT-EXT]


Model 1101-XX-QCW-YYYY-MicroTT-EXT quantum cascade laser (QCL) system is a high average power, pulsed source of infrared radiation. At the wavelength of 4.6 µm, the system produces in excess of 2 W of average power. Other wavelengths between 3.8 and 12 µm are available. The passively cooled system is designed for bench top use, and is virtually vibration-free. The system is self-contained, and requires only external 20 VDC power to operate. Pulse shaping and power conditioning electronics are enclosed inside along with the hermetically sealed package that includes the QCL and related optics for collimating the output laser beam. The system requires no adjustments in the field and is designed to be stable over long periods of time when operating in a stable temperature environment.


 The system is available with the option of internal battery operation. With four CR123A internal batteries, the run time is more than 30 minutes for a 2 W QCL. The run time will be longer for lower power QCLs.



High Power Quasi-CW OEM Micro Laser [Model 1101-XX-QCW-YYYY-UC-PF]


Model 1101-XX-QCW-YYYY-UC-PF quantum cascade laser (QCL) system is a high average power, pulsed source platform of infrared radiation for OEM applications. At a wavelength of 4.6 µm, the system produces in excess of 2 W of average power and at a wavelength of 4.0 µm, the system produces in excess of 1 W of average power. Other wavelengths between 3.8 µm and 12 µm are also available. The passively cooled system is designed for OEM applications for incorporation into customers' platforms, and is virtually vibration-free. The system is self-contained and requires only an external DC power to operate. Pulse shaping and power conditioning electronics are on the PCB, with the hermetically sealed butterfly package that includes the QCL and related optics for collimating the output laser beam. The system requires no adjustments in the field and is designed to be stable over long periods of time when operating in a stable temperature environment.



High Power Pulsed Laser System [Model 1101-XX-HP-XXXX]


Model 1101-XX-HP-XXXX quantum cascade laser is supplied as a complete system consisting of the laser head with its matched power supply, ready to be turned on in a customer's location. The standard version of the system consists of the quantum cascade laser and its collimating optics, located in a hermetically sealed package for trouble free operation in harsh physical environments, plus appropriate electronics. The MWIR laser radiation emerges in a ~4 mm diameter nearly collimated beam.


For special applications, the system is available (at optional extra cost) with an external bayonet mount infrared beam expanding lens for projection of the MWIR beam over kilometer distances (see the photograph above, in which a Janos ASIO 50 mm F/2.3 objective is integrated with the laser head). The bayonet mount accepts other lenses for customer specific applications.


Output pulses are of fixed duration, user-specified between 50 ns and 500 ns, with frequency from single pulses up to 1 MHz. The system features very fast pulse rise and fall times of less than 5 ns. Various internal and external triggering options are provided.


The laser is offered in three pulsed power output versions:




High Power Multiple Wavelength Laser System [Model MultiLux™-20-XX-YY-CW-SYST]


Model MULTILUX™-20-40-46-CW-SYST is a high power multiple wavelength laser system that provide multiwatt of continuous wave room temperature power output at one short wavelength infrared (SWIR) and two midwave infrared (MWIR) wavelengths. The three laser outputs are collinear and collimated and each has excellent beam quality needed for a variety of defense and homeland security applications.


The MULTILUX™-20-40-46-CW, can be configured to provide > 2 W of continuous wave, room temperature (CW/RT) power at ~4.6 µm, > 1.5 W of CW/RT power at ~4.0 µm and > 3 W of CW/RT power at ~2.1 µm. The collinearity between the combined laser outputs at the three wavelengths is better than 1 milliradian, which coupled with the excellent beam quality of all three lasers allows projection over long distances. Power output at each one of the laser wavelengths can be individually controlled and can be modulated with arbitrary pulse sequences. Other combinations of SWIR, MWIR and long wave infrared (LWIR) wavelengths are available.
