Laser Diode
The company was founded in 1967 as a premier manufacturer of solid state lasers. LDI became the leader in laser diode technology and collaborated on many of the laser based military programs which are still in use today.
In 2000 LDI was purchased by TYCO industries. The demand for high energy, high reliability lasers for telecommunications applications made LDI a synergistic acquisition which enhanced TYCO dominance in the fibre optic space during this time.
OSI Systems purchased LDI in 2011. OSI Systems’ vertical integration required a source manufacturer with vision, technology, and the expertise which would supplement its ability to become one of the premier Opto Assemblies companies in the world.
